Castle Crags State Park has inspired enduring myths and legends since prehistoric times. The Okwanuchu Shasta tribe believed spirits took human forms living in these 6,000 ft tall, glacier polished granite formations. The park offers rock climbing, 28 miles of hiking, swimming, and fishing in the Sacramento River. A favorite among hikers, a rigorous 5.2-mile Castle Dome Trail rewards you with a unique view of the snowcapped Mt. Shasta, the Grey Rocks, and Castle Dome from one vantage point.
