Folk music, craft beer and delicious food await you at the fourth annual Redding Roots Revival Music Festival on September 22nd and 23rd. You’ll get to enjoy a wide array of folk inspired music with 32 bands to choose from performing on 3 different stages. Listen to live music from national and local recording artists like: G Love, Chuck Prophet and The Mission Express, Seth Walker, Steve Poltz, Shawn Mullins, Diggin Dirt and many more eclectic musicians. All that singing and dancing will be sure to make you thirsty but you’re in luck as there will be a local beer garden with dozens of brews available on tap. Woody’s Brewing even made a special ale for this year’s event called “Redding Roots Folkin’ Haze”, which is sure to go down smooth while you’re spending the weekend, listening to some amazing music! For more info and to buy your tickets, visit: Redding Roots Revival.

Mud is good for the soul! Get your running shoes on, grab some friends, and get muddy for a good cause. Sunrise Rotary Club is happy to be hosting their fifth annual Sunrise Rotary Mud Run at Nash Ranch on Sept 16th. This fun and family friendly race attracts hundreds of runners, walkers, and joggers from all over northern California. We want you to come out, get dirty and make it their biggest and best mud run yet. Groups of 3 or more also get a special team discount. Never been to a mud run? We’ve got you covered here with our “Mud, Mayhem and Memories” blog article on what to expect at this year’s event.

Get a guided bike tour with a Redding trail expert hosted by Shasta Living Streets. A typical 90-minute tour can include top sights such as: riding across the Sundial Bridge, cruising along the Sacramento River Trail, and zig zagging your way to Ribbon Bridge and back. Feeling ambitious? You can even elect to ride all the way to Shasta Dam, where you’ll get to see beautiful, panoramic views of pristine Lake Shasta with towering Mt. Shasta in the distance. All bikes are electric pedal-assist so zipping up hills is a breeze for any skill level! Guided tours are available for groups of 4-10 people and can be customized to fit the group’s interest and rider experience. Helmets are included along with an intro lesson on how best to use the pedal assist bicycles. To learn more or schedule a tour, please call 530-335-9434 or visit Shasta Living Streets.

Do you remember, all the fun that you had in September? Speaking of classics, this one is an oldie but a goodie. We’re talking about roller skating! What better way to reconnect with the gang than gliding together on the rink while grooving to some fresh and funky beats. There’s something nostalgic that happens when you strap those wheels to your feet, step out onto the floor, and get your boogie on under a disco ball. This retro and feel-good group activity is sure to appeal to all ages and skill levels. There are also rollerblades available if you want to turn up the fun meter. So make September truly a month to remember and take the group out roller skating at Viking Skate Country. For skating hours or to book a group event, call (530) 246-3901 or visit Viking Skate Country.

Go Karts, laser tag, and mini golf! There’s no better way to treat the team than with a fun and friendly round of 18-hole mini golf. Come and navigate the wonky obstacles, avoid water hazards, and bank shot your way to putt-putt glory! Groups of 4 to 12 people can play on either of the two 18-hole courses available. Want to move a little faster? Then jump onto the Oasis speedway where up to 8 go karts can race head-to-head to see who’s king or queen of the asphalt! After you tear up the track, head inside for the ultimate game of indoor laser tag. This 3,000 sq ft, 2 story cyber arena will give you plenty of room to hide, seek, and tag your opponents. Featuring state of the art blasters, interactive targets, and over 20 unique game scenarios to choose from, you’ll be sure to have a blast with your battle buddies. Up to 18 players can join in on the futuristic fun. For more info, call Oasis Fun Center at (530) 275-3042 or visit Oasis Fun Center.

Where’s the best place in Redding to spot a ninja? At Ninja Coalition HQ of course! Now’s your chance to climb across cargo nets, keep your grip on the swinging monkey bars, conquer the salmon ladder, and speed run up the 11 ft warped wall. At any given time, you’ll see plenty of ninja warriors and little ninjas in training, working on their routines, sharpening their skills, and building great team memories. Groups of all sizes are welcome to drop in on Thursdays at 5:30 and Saturdays at noon for open gym. Want the entire facility reserved for just your squad? Ninja Coalition HQ can make it happen and can even bring the gym to your next event! Contact them at 530-605-3329 and stop in at their Mt. Shasta Mall location. Getting Ready for the October 14th National Eclipse? Book your stay now at one of Redding’s beautiful lodging properties here. Once you’re in Redding, it’s roughly a 2 ½ hour drive to Alturas where the eclipse will be the most direct in all the west coast! The eclipse is expected to start around 8:00 am and will block 90% of the sun for several hours! If you’re not up for the drive and crowds, you can always stay in Redding as the eclipse will still be viewable and will block roughly 80% of the sun when it passes over our city. It only happens once a year so make sure you start planning now! Don’t forget to grab some “ISO certified eclipse viewing glasses” so you can view the eclipse safely.
