The holiday season is here, and no place celebrates like Redding! With a month jam-packed full of parades, light shows, and holiday events, Redding truly brings the holly-jolly spirit all month long! Here are a few of our favorite events happening in December, so you can make the most of the most wonderful time of year!
Redding Farmers Markets - All Month Long
There's no better start to the day then enjoying some fruit fresh off the vine, or indulging in a locally made fresh pastry. And luckily in Redding, you can find both at the same place! Going 45 years strong, the Redding Farmers Market takes place every Saturday behind City Hall and is the place to go for locally grown produce and artisan goods.
Redding Garden of Lights - November 18 - January 8
Head on over to Turtle Bay Exploration Park and explore winding paths leading though 10 acres of artfully illuminated and immersive displays exhibiting world-class design! Celebrate the natural world with wildlife and plant themed exhibits unique to our region. Enjoy cheerful amenities and community spaces throughout the gardens, including holiday-themed drinks, gifts, and food. It's a outdoor wonderland of holiday lights!
City of Redding Christmas Tree Lighting - December 2
Join Viva Downtown for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting! Watch Downtown Redding's larger-then-life Christmas tree be lit up for the first time of the season. After the tree's been lit up, check out the rest of Downtown Redding - the shops and restaurants stay open late for the occasion, with live music, sales, and more!
Redding Lighted Christmas Parade - December 3
The Redding Lighted Christmas Parade has been a holiday tradition for decades in downtown Redding. Entries decorated in twinkling lights cruise, march, dance, and ride down the main streets of Redding, lighting up a fun and festive evening for all to enjoy!
Cascade Christmas - December 1-4
Join us this year at the Cascade Theatre for the 18th annual Cascade Christmas, a Redding Tradition! A local favorite, this song and dance extravaganza is sure to put you in the holiday spirit!
You Better Watch Out - December 2-17
Ring in the Christmas season with a holiday comedy at Riverfront Playhouse! There’s a snowstorm raging outside and three passing travelers are forced to seek refuge at the inn. One of these cheerful but mysterious strangers is Mr. Smith who claims to run a “delivery business”. Only the Inn’s handyperson Andy sees Mr. Smith for who he really is.
A Christmas Story - December 9-23
The Christmas classic comes to the stage at Axiom Repertory Theatre! Set in the 1940s in the fictional town of Hohman, Indiana, the musical follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts—an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air rifle.
North State Symphony Holiday POPS! - December 11
In this spectacular year-end concert at the Cascade Theatre, the full complement of the North State Symphony will fill our halls with joyous music and a festive atmosphere to put you in the holiday spirit!

A Celtic Christmas - December 20
A Celtic Christmas at the Cascade Theatre springs from the infinitely rich treasury of Ireland’s cultural heritage. It is a re-creation of a night before Christmas in the West of Ireland in the 1940s, before the advent of motorcar, the television, and the telephone.
