Rafting and Rollin'
Biking Along the Sacramento River

1. Enjoy the Lakes – We’ve got plenty to choose from! Whether you’re looking for a quick swim in the water followed by some sandy shores to lay out after, Oak Bottom Beach in Whiskeytown is a great place for that picturesque summer lake day. Want to take the gang out further than the shoreline? Rent a patio boat or jet skis by the hour or for the day over at the marinas on Shasta Lake. They also rent paddleboards, kayaks and other watercraft. Enjoying the lakes in summer is by far the most beautiful and natural way to get wet, stay cool and beat the heat!

A day use National Park pass is required for Whiskeytown which you can get online here:

2. WaterWorks Park – Got some thrill seekers in your party? They’ll be sure to love all the twists and turns that await them at WaterWorks Park. This all-ages aquatic attraction will cater to both young and old alike with its many whimsy, water features like the “Lazy Lagoon” river for those who just wanna float and chill. Looking to catch some waves? Then cruise on over to “Cowabunga Beach” and body surf Redding’s only wave pool! Have the need for speed? Climb to the top of “The Avalanche”, a 4-story high drop slide, that will be sure to take your breath away! The waterpark opens daily at 10 am and closes at 6 pm for the month of August.

3. Redding Aquatic Center – Nestled next to the shimmering shorelines of the Sacramento River in Caldwell Park is Redding’s largest outdoor swimming pool which is open to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in August. Enjoy some lap swims in the activity pool or get wet and wild on their twisty, tubular waterslide. Finish it off with a high dive from their towering, 9-foot-tall diving board! Redding Aquatic Center is an affordable and easy way to bring the entire group and stay cool by the pool.

4. Sacramento River Rafting – Looking for the ultimate team building experience? Look no further than rafting as a group down the Sacramento River! By far the best way to go is on a professionally guided rafting tour with North Country Raft Rentals! Bring up to 8 people in a raft and traverse down some light rapids for a truly adventurous and unforgettable journey down the river. While most people have walked across the top of the Sundial bridge, you’ll be one of the few that actually gets to go underneath! Tours last roughly 2 hours and if you’ve never been before, your rafting guide will show you and your group how to have a safe, fun, and memorable time.

Bookings must be made in advance:

5. Morning Bike Ride by the River – BYOB means Bring Your Own Bike when you’re in Redding! Cruise the beautiful Sacramento River National Recreation Trail at your leisure and enjoy the cool morning temps as you ride under a canopy of trees and explore the rocky river shorelines. Take your team the distance or go for a quick and casual ride. It’s entirely up to you how long and how far you go when you’re enjoying one of Redding’s most loved and visited bike trails. Don’t have a bike? Don’t worry! You can rent a pedal assist bicycle by the hour from Pedego Redding or Shasta Bike Depot as their bike pickup locations conveniently connect with the trail.

Pick up at their locations or make an early reservation here:

6. Catch a show! - Looking to take it easy after a long day of group activities? Grab your popcorn and get comfy in front of the silver screen at the Cinemark 14 Movie Theater. If you're 21 and up, they serve several beers on tap as well as hard ciders and wine. Spooky season is almost here but if you and your crew can’t wait until October to get your fright on, then go see the movie “Haunted Mansion” which dives deep into the origin story of the famous Disneyland attraction. Looking for something a little brighter and with lots of pink? Then “Barbie” is a great movie to take your happy-go-lucky entourage. If pink isn’t your thing and you want something deeper, catch “Oppenheimer” which retells the story of how the first atomic bomb was created and the man, J. Robert Oppenheimer, who changed world history as we know it. Whatever you pick, make sure to bring the gang, have fun and enjoy the company around you!

Want to make sure your group gets seats together? You can now book group sections on Cinemark's website before you go:
