Follow the course of a regionally important ditch that once brought water to the early gold miners of the north Redding and Shasta Lake Cithy areas. Starting near the Shasta Dam visitor parking lot, this trail stretches to the trilhead at the end of Walke Mine Road. Stop on any of the three bridges to enjoy the spring-time cascades and falls on the northern portion of the trail. Take in the views of Shasta Dam, the Sacramento River, and Keswick Reservoir. See if you can find evidenc of the conveyor belt that once supplied gravel form the Turtle Bay area of Redding to the construction site for Shasta Dam. (Hint: look for lots of rounded stream cobbles.)
